PJ Morton Announces Double Album "Saturday Night, Sunday Morning"

Grammy-winning R&B artist PJ Morton has announced his most ambitious project to date: a double album titled Saturday Night, Sunday Morning. Scheduled for release on June 19, 2026, the album aims to explore the duality of the human experience—bridging the gap between the secular energy of the weekend and the spiritual reflection of the morning after.

Morton, known for his masterful songwriting and soulful arrangements, intends for this project to be a comprehensive statement on his musical identity. The "Saturday Night" portion will feature more upbeat, groove-oriented R&B and funk, while "Sunday Morning" will lean into his gospel roots and introspective balladry.

The announcement has sent ripples through the R&B community, as Morton is widely regarded as a "musician's musician." His ability to play, produce, and write at an elite level makes any new release a significant event. He has teased that the album will feature several high-profile collaborations that span the worlds of R&B, Jazz, and Gospel.

The choice of a June 19th (Juneteenth) release date is intentional, as Morton often incorporates themes of Black history and resilience into his work. This project is expected to be a celebration of Black musical tradition in all its forms. Fans are eagerly awaiting the first single, which is rumored to drop later this month.

As a multi-Grammy winner, expectations are incredibly high for Morton. However, if his past discography is any indication, Saturday Night, Sunday Morning will likely be a landmark release in 2026, further cementing his place as a modern soul icon.
